I love finding out Beauty Bloggers’ favorite products and beauty tips! These are beauty obsessed girls who aren’t loyal to any particular brand, and they’ll do things like use Milk of Magnesia as a makeup primer or blot oily skin with a toilet seat cover.
Summer Beauty Products
I asked a few of my beauty blogging friends for their favorite summer beauty tips. Some answers seem to be universal, you should definitely be priming before applying makeup and waterproof makeup is great for all day wear. But, it turns out there are a lot of layering tricks to learn!
It's All In the Application
Don't Tan Your Cuticles
"We've all suffered from the dreaded orange palms from applying self tanner and that's easily remedied with a good scrub. But what about stained nails? Apply a thin layer of lip balm or cuticle cream on the nail plate, cuticle and under the nail to act as a barrier. The extra nail nourishment is just an added bonus!"Michelle's Favorites:
- Michelle Mismas, All Lacquered Up
Smith's Rosebud Salve $6
Sally Hansen Cuticle Rehab $7.49
Refresh With Setting Spray
"Aside from using primer, a great makeup setting/refreshing spray helps to keep makeup from melting in the sweltering heat. The best place to keep it? In the refrigerator! Not only is it refreshingly cold on your skin when coming in from the outdoors, but the cold temporarily tightens your skin by constricting blood flow and calms facial redness."

Skindinavia Makeup Finishing Spray $29 (see Shannon's Review)

Eyes That Last All Day
"For eyeshadows, priming is a must! Don't apply extra moisture to the eye area or your shadows will crease in a few areas. After you apply your daily moisturizer with SPF and let it sink in, blot off any excess oils on your lid. If you've got really oily lids, you can apply a bit of translucent powder."
"Then apply your eyeshadow primer. I reach for Too Faced Shadow Insurance or Cover FX Anti-Age Smoothing eyeshadow primer. Apply your eyeshadow as normal. You can dust a little translucent powder on top if you feel you need it."
"Then spray your face with a makeup setting spray. My choices are Model in a Bottle or Urban Decay All Nighter."
Too Faced Shadow Insurance Primer $20
Cover FX Anti-Age Smoothing Eye Primer $34
Model in a Bottle Original Setting Spray $18
Urban Decay All Nighter Makeup Setting Spray $30
All Day Lips
"When all else fails, it's easy to keep summer lips looking luscious! Try lining your lips and following up with a gloss. The result is a sexy, glossy lip that lasts way longer than usual. For lips that don't budge for hours, try a Liquid Lipstick from Hourglass. When paired with their Panoramic Lip Liner, the color lasts for hours and your lips feel super soft and never dry."
-Kelly, Gouldylox Reviews
Hourglass Opaque Rogue Lipstick $28
Hourglass Panoramic Lip Liner $28
A Little Bonus UV Protection
Stop Yellowed Manicures
"The additional UV exposure of being outside in the summer can cause white or light colored nail polishes to yellow. Use a non-yellowing top coat with UV filters."
- Michelle Mismas, All Lacquered Up
Sally Beauty Yellow Stopper Top Coat $7.29
Favorite CC Creams
"Switch from a heavy foundation to a BB or CC cream for lightweight coverage. The best summer foundation I've found is IT Cosmetics CC cream. It’s got great coverage, is highly moisturizing, blends well, is available in a variety of shades and looks completely natural!"
- Cindy, Prime Beauty
"CoverFX CC Cream not only has SPF 30, but its formula is perfect for hot summer days. The application is easy and the coverage is fantastic."
- Brittany, Clumps of Mascara
Brittany and Cindy's Favorites:
IT Cosmetics CC Cream $38
CoverFX CC Cream $45
Pick Your Formula
"I like to use tinted sunscreen in summer for double duty wear. My go to tinted sunscreen is Physicians Formula Healthy Wear. it is super high SPF and wears really well. Cream products also will standup to sweat better than powder and when they sweat off they do so much more gracefully. For cream products, I love all of the Make Up Forever Aqua products, especially the aqua cream shadows and aqua eyes liners. They are pretty much sweat proof!"
- Carleen, Beauty and Fashion Tech
Physicians Formula Healthy Wear Tinted Moisturizer SPF 50 $14.95
Make Up For Ever Aqua Cream $23
