A few days ago, I was in the baking aisle of our local supermarket looking for ground almond. An older gentleman was picking up products from the same section, so I asked him if he knew where I could find ground almond. He told me he didn’t think the store carried them, but suggested I just buy almonds and grind them myself. He then asked if I was making something special. I told him, “A beauty treatment.” He thought that was interesting. Okay, he thought it was weird (really weird). But it seems like I’ve been spending more time in the produce and baking aisles of supermarkets on the hunt for the perfect beauty treatment more than I do at department stores and pharmacies.
I figured it was pumpkin season, so I looked up different recipes to see what was out there and easy to make. I found a fall beauty recipe (hence, the search for ground almond) that seemed to be duplicated on several sites (She Knows and Michelle Phan). It seemed simple enough to make, and after trying it once, I’m hooked. My face is soft like a baby’s bum!

Pumpkin Face Mask 1 of 5
This looks edible, but it's really great for your skin. Pumpkins are rich in vitamins A and C and packed with fruit enzymes and alpha hydroxy acids, which increase cell turnover to brighten and smooth the skin.
Apparently, eating pumpkin is great for acne-prone skin as well (like mine) because they also carry zinc, which helps control the hormone levels and oil production. I think I know what my main ingredient will be this season!
Small Pumpkin for Face Mask 2 of 5
The recipe I used required two cups of pureed pumpkin, so I purchased the smallest pumpkin available. You can also use canned pumpkin, but I preferred going the fresh route, which lengthened the process of making the mask, but was well worth it. I followed this post by the Pioneer Woman.

I sliced up the pumpkin and baked them in the oven for about 45 minutes. Make sure you warn your family you are not making pie or anything special for them to eat. There were many disappointed faces in this house when I said I was making a face mask!

You will need:
2 cups of pumpkin puree
4 tablespoons of unflavored yogurt
4 tablespoons honey
1/3 cup ground almonds
1/4 teaspoon olive oil

Apply the mask to your face with the back of a spoon over your sink. It can get messy. Find somewhere comfortable to rest and relax for about 15 minutes. It may feel itchy after 5 minutes or so. Wash with a warm cloth. Your skin will feel amazing!
