Good news for new moms, working moms, busy moms, and basically anyone who wears makeup! Digital beauty is a major trend and the industry’s top innovators are introducing news ways to provide the products and services you want however you want them, including online.
Prescriptives recently became the first beauty brand in the U.S. to launch Custom Blend Live Video Chat with photo upload technology, allowing customers to chat live, one-on-one with its Beauty Geniuses for personalized advice on skincare, makeup, and foundation. Part of the consultation includes the option to order the brand’s signature Custom Blend Foundation and Custom Blend Powder, which the Beauty Genius can determine based on your answers to a series of short questions and a recent photo.
How accurate can an online consultation be? Very. I recently engaged in a live chat and my Custom Blend Foundation is a perfect match to my skin. Here’s how it works:
On a typical, insanely busy day last month, I sat down at my computer to speak with Nikki, a Prescriptives Beauty Genius, via Live Video Chat. All I was asked to have on hand, other than a webcam so we could see one another, is details about what foundation I was currently using and a photo.
After uploading the photo, we discussed my skin type and skin care regimen. Then Nikki asked me series of specific questions about what I wanted in a foundation. Sheer? Matte? Moisturizing? Shimmery? Dewy? My answers allowed her to formulate a custom “recipe” specific to my personal needs and wants that is saved in my profile for purchase at anytime. The entire chat took about 20 to 25 minutes.
As a side note, the afternoon I scheduled our appointment was particularly hectic. First I was running late, then my 3.5-year old joined to see what was up, then I had to nurse my little guy. Nikki was gracious and patient throughout. Apparently I was not the first but the third client she’s had breastfeed during a video consultation. It’s that kind of personalized customer service that really makes a difference to me as a mom.
The cost of the foundation is $65 plus tax and shipping and the powder is $48. A tad bit more than I’m used to paying but when you factor in the complimentary consultation, the fact that my boobs were out and I was sitting at home, and the custom match to my skin color, I think it’s worth every penny.
