DIY scrub ingredients and their benefits:
- Brown sugar is extremely affordable and has an amazing, rich scent that aids in relaxation. Brown sugar is extremely moisturizing when mixed with oils and is gentle on the skin. Spas everywhere use brown sugar in their scrubs, so you can treat your skin to a spa treatment right in the convenience of your home, without the pricey cost.
- Avocado Oil is full of vitamins, proteins and anti-aging, anti-wrinkle and anti-bacterial properties. Using avocado oil on your body will also moisturize dry, patchy skin (I’m sure I have said enough about its greatness!).
- Coconut Oil is one of my favorite oils; it’s one of those oils that get overlooked, but it’s amazing for skin and hair care. It’s great for eczema, acne, and aging – as you can probably tell, I wish to age gracefully. Coconut oil has anti-viral, anti-bacterial and anti-fungal properties, which is why its so great at combating skin conditions while aiding in preventing body acne. Here are more things you can do with coconut oil!
- Pure Castile Soap is an all-natural soap made with organic oils that I love to use in my DIY body scrub, as this allows my scrub to also be a cleanser. Pure- castile soap is very gentle so it won’t irritate sensitive skin, and because it has olive oil it can help with eczema. The one I use has lavender oil so I didn’t add any essential oils for scent, but feel free to add your favorite!
