Aveda Global Creative Director Antoinette Beenders styled these ‘effortless’ modern tails for the Stella McCartney Fall/Winter 2013 collection and runway show and they are simply stunning. Admittedly, I’ve been seeing these fabulous low ponies everywhere. They’re surprisingly versatile and can be styled a few different ways to create a look that suits your style. For instance, a center front part and a nape of the neck pony has a retro 60′s/70′s feel. Whereas a more pouffed front without a part and pony that hits a bit higher where your head meets your neck, reads a little more sultry with a glam edge. This tutorial will give you the basics on how to create your own sleek pony, the front is up to you!

“A beautiful groomed ponytail may seem simple but to look effortless takes creative thinking and a strategic use of high performance products to achieve a natural, polished look. Stella was looking for a slicker look than what she normally goes for to match the beautifully tailored masculine/feminine cut of this stunning collection. Our models had a variety of global hair textures from fine to curly and course, so achieving sleek isn’t a given. The beauty is that with a little styling help, the polished look can become anyone’s regardless of their hair type or length. It’s all about products + technique = results.” ~ Antoinette Beenders
