How To Wear Plum Lipstick

By Kate Bryan |

s1532068-main-hero Plum shades are hot this fall, especially rich plum lipsticks.

Are you willing to try the trend?

I  think the right plum shade can work on any skin color or hair color. The key is making sure it’s the “right” plum (just as you would pick the “right” red lipstick).

When you are wearing plum lipstick, make sure you keep the rest of your makeup simple, classic, and fairly neutral. The lips are going to be the focus of the face, so you don’t want a dark or colorful eye to steal the show.

Consider skipping blush and just wearing bronzer for depth in your cheeks. Sometimes, a blush that is too pink or too peachy will compete with the plum lipstick.

I think a perfect complementary makeup look to a plum lip is a simple cat eye with plenty of mascara and a hint of bronzer!

I’ve wanted to try out a plum lip color for a while! Now the only issue is figuring out which plums look best with what skin tones so I don’t pick out the wrong one.
