Keep your Summer Glow this Fall and Winter with These 4 Tips from Beauty Expert Kika RochaRachel Matos
I’ve recently had the privilege of working with beauty and fashion expert Kika Rocha for a few of our Latina Bloggers Connect skincare campaigns and have since been following her tips on Twitter. I seriously cannot get enough of her beauty and skincare advice!
By the looks of this Pumpkin Face Mask I made the other day, I’m diving right into the season. However, as the weather starts to get colder, I know I tend to let a few things go because a lot more is covered up. My hair and skin gets really dry, and now that my strappy heels are being replaced with pumps and boots, I won’t be so focused on pedicures. To make sure I keep a skincare and beauty routine going throughout the colder months, I decided to ask Kika Rocha a few questions about fall/winter skin and hair.
Kika Rocha is an authority in fashion and beauty in the US and Latin America. She is the Fashion and Beauty Director at People En Español and also a TV fashion critic on networks like Univision, CNN Español, and Telemundo. She is also a current judge on the reality show Colombia’s Next Top Model and a blogger at De Tacones y Mucho Mas, where she offers her famous #tipsdekika: pearls of wisdom on beauty and fashion. Can’t think of a better person to ask!
Keep your summer glow this fall and winter with these 4 tips from beauty expert Kika Rocha:
1. During the winter, our faces tends to get dry and, in some cases, chapped. What tips do you have for keeping your skin moisturized and replenished?
Change your moisturizer to a denser cream if your skin tolerates it. Use it morning and night and reapply during the day if you need to. Don’t wait for skin to feel dry to treat it. You can also try to use 100% organic pure Argan oil after cleansing your face at night. It is highly moisturizing and enhances skin’s radiance. I love Josie Maran’s brand. It is available at Sephora.
2. We all want shiny, radiant hair! What can we do now to prep our hair for the winter season?
Once a week, if you have time, try a homemade hair mask made with yogurt for deep hydration, mint leaves to stimulate hair follicles, and an apple and orange for shine given by vitamin C and pectine contained in both fruits. Put all ingredients in a blender and mix well! Do this the night before you put it on your head so ingredients combine really well! Leave on for 20 minutes and rinse with warm water first and then with cold to boost shine.
3. For beautiful nails and hands, what kind of daily or weekly DIY routine would you recommend for soft looking hands during the cold months ahead?
Enhance your moisturizer with pure almond oil. Mix both really well and keep it in your purse to apply every time you wash your hands or feel they are dry. Rub well, and don’t forget the nails and cuticles! This will also make nail polish last longer. At night, I love to massage my cuticles with a little Vicks VapoRub. Eucalyptus is a rich emollient, too!
4. Although we are covered up in boots all season long, is there a winter foot bath you recommend during the colder months?
Abuela’s recipe: Before going to bed, soak your feet in warm coconut milk for ten minutes to moisturize the skin and relax! Rinse and apply lavender oil with a soft massage. It is not only antiseptic, but soothing! You will have soft and rested feet.
