Simplify Your Beauty Routine: 5 Easy Looks in Under 5 Minutes

When it comes to simplifying your life, streamlining your beauty routine is a great place to start. For most moms, finding the time for a full makeup application on an everyday basis is pretty difficult. Luckily, summer is a terrific time to scale back because a full face of makeup can look too obvious in the bright summer sun. Add humidity and sweat to the party and going overboard just isn’t practical.

In this post, I will share five easy makeup looks that you can complete in under five minutes with only three products each. Adding just a touch of color (and a bit of concealer) can brighten your mood and boost your confidence without a big time commitment. I did give myself a head start by laying a base of L’Oreal Paris Revitalift Miracle Blur Instant Skin Smoother Finishing Cream. This SPF 30 moisturizer really does soften imperfections while adding hydration with a velvety finish.

Quick and Easy Makeup Look #1

look_1_320This great everyday look keeps it simple while brightening eyes and drawing attention to your lips with a splash of bold color.

You will need:

Luminizing concealer (I used Stila Brighten and Correct Concealer)

Mascara (I used Rimmel ScandalEyes Retro Glam Mascara in Extreme Black)

Bold lipstick (I used CoverGirl Lip Perfection Lipstick in Spellbound)

1. Start by adding concealer where you need it. For me this is under my eyes, over blemishes and in the folds between my nose and mouth. A luminizing formula reflects light, making it ideal for these areas. Blend well.

2. Add two coats of mascara. If you have shorter lashes, use a lengthening formula. If you have thin lashes, use a thickening formula.

3. Finish with a nice bold long-wearing lipstick.

Quick and Easy Makeup Look #2

look_2_320This makeup application is perfect for the beach, pool, or other outdoor activities. These three products are designed to stay put.

You will need:

Stick Foundation (I used Maybelline Fit Me! Shine Free Foundation)

Waterproof eyeliner (I used Stila Smudge Stick Waterproof Eyeliner in Graphite)

Lip and cheek stain (I used Stila Lip & Cheek Stain in Mango Crush)

1. Add your stick foundation only to the areas where you need more coverage. I really like stick concealers like this one for hot summer days because it’s opaque enough to hide flaws and has a matte finish that won’t get too shiny.

2. Apply eyeliner. I like to do a slight cat eye with my liner, but the choice is up to you. A good budge-proof formula is key for summertime activities. Black is a little dramatic for the beach so I used gray. Brown or other fun colors like teal or emerald would also work well.

3. Complete the look with lip and cheek stain on your lips, the apples of your cheeks, and just a touch on the bridge of your nose to give you a sun-kissed appearance.

Quick and Easy Makeup Look #3

look_3_320Who says a nighttime look has to be complicated? Combine a quick smoky eye with a pretty gloss and you’ll be ready to hit the town in no time.

You will need:

Foundation (I used Smashbox Liquid Halo HD Foundation)

Navy Blue Eyeshadow (I usedStila Eye Shadow Pan in Indigo)

Orange Lip Gloss (I used Maybelline Color Sensational High Shine Lip Gloss in Captivating Coral)

1. Dot on your foundation over discolored areas and blend well.

2. Apply your blue eyeshadow to your eyelids, blending up just beyond the crease. Grab a liner brush and line your lower lash line with the shadow. Then wet the brush and swirl it in the shadow to form a deep liquid liner. Use the wet shadow to line your upper lids.

3. Swipe on your gloss and don’t forget to throw it in your bag for touchups.

Quick and Easy Makeup Look #4

look_4_320_edited-1 Go monochromatic with a pretty pink or peach blush for an on-trend pastel look in minutes.

You will need:

Concealer (I used L’Oreal True Match Super Blendable Concealer)

Pink or Peach Cream Blush (I used Flower Win Some, Rouge Some Crème Blush)

Mascara (I used Smashbox Photo Op Eye Brightening Mascara)

1. Cover imperfections with concealer and blend with your fingers or a concealer brush.

2. Tap the cream blush onto the apples of your cheeks and the bridge of your nose to mimic where the sun would naturally give you color if you weren’t religiously applying sunscreen and wearing sun hats. Use the blush in place of cream eye shadow and blend up just past your crease and apply to lips as you would a balm.

3. Two coats of your favorite mascara completes the look.

Quick and Easy Makeup Look #5

look_5_320Adding a touch of shimmer provides a dewy glow match the warm summer evenings.

You will need:

Luminizer (I used Stila All Over Shimmer Liquid Luminizer in Bronze Shimmer)

Brown Eye Pencil (I used Pencil Me In Cosmetics Eye Pencil in Brownie)

Lip Lacquer (I used Wet & Wild MegaLast Liquid Lip Color in Raisin the Roof)

1. Use your luminizer to highlight your features and layer a touch over dark areas to brighten them. I applied it to my cheekbones, bridge of my nose, above the cupid’s bow, under eye area, and in the folds between my nose and mouth. Then swipe the luminizer over eyelids, blending up just beyond the crease to add a bit of shimmer.

2. Apply your brown eye pencil on upper lash line and extend it up about halfway to your crease. Use your finger to blend the eye pencil and the luminizer. Line your lower lashes as well, if desired. Define your brows by filling them with the pencil, using very light strokes. Blend with an eyebrow brush or q-tip.

3. Complete the look with a shimmery long-wearing lip lacquer.
