X-men Halloween Costume — Rogue

Since my son is planning to be one of the X-men for Halloween, I decided to follow suit. He wanted me to be Jean Grey, but I pushed for Rogue and eventually convinced him. I mean, come on, she can take on anyone’s thoughts and powers just by touching them. Oh, and I just absolutely love her white bangs! Click through the slideshow to see how I created the hair and makeup for Rogue.

Apply your makeup as you normally do. For me, this means foundation primer, foundation, and concealer.

Clinique Even Better Makeup is available at Nordstrom. $27

  • Highlight and Contour 3 of 11

Since comic book characters tend to have chiseled features, I'm going to use a highlighter and bronzer to add definition. If you need help with this step, check out this post on how to highlight and contour.

Smashbox Bronze Lights is available at Smashbox. $29

Benefit's Watt's Up! Highlighter is found at Benefit. $30

  • Eyes 4 of 11

I'm keeping the eye makeup simple with a winged cat eye look. You can use any type of liner you prefer, but I am using a black eyeshadow mixed with a little water. If you aren't confident in your eye makeup skills, check out this super cool cat eye trick from Pretty Prudent.

L'Oreal Professional Secrets Eye Shadow in Rich Raven can be purchased at Drugstore. $3.79

  • Eyebrows 5 of 11

Most female comic book characters have pretty high arches, so I've exaggerated mine. Check out my post on the perfect brows for shaping guidance.

Urban Decay Brow Box is found at Urban Decay. $29

  • Eyelashes 6 of 11

Curl your lashes and apply two coats of mascara. Add false lashes for additional drama, if desired.

Pick up a pair of MAC 3 Lash false lashes at Nordstrom. $16

  • Lips 7 of 11

I've seen images of Rogue with a variety of lip colors, from fairly nude to bright red. When in doubt, I always go red.

Rimmel Lasting Finish by Kate in #01 is available at Walmart. $4.97

  • Bangs 8 of 11

I picked up some white hairspray at my local Halloween shop. Unfortunately, two extremely heavy coats only made my fringe section look gray.

White Temporary Hair Color Spray can be found at Party City. $2.00

  • Extensions 9 of 11

Luckily, I anticipated that I wouldn't get the bright white I was after with just a temporary color spray. I also grabbed a couple white hair extensions to clip in after I trimmed them to the proper length.

Get your white hair extensions at Party City for $.99

  • Ponytail 10 of 11

Pull the rest of your hair back into a messy ponytail.

  • Save the World 11 of 11

Put on the rest of your costume and feel like a hero. If you have an X-men lover in the house, you actually will be.
