Zebra Makeup Tutorial

I am all about the cheap makeup kits from Walmart right now. Don’t get me wrong, I love Halloween as much as the next girl, but there is no way you’re going to find me spending $100 on an incredible costume I’ll use just once. It’s not my thing. So to compensate for not spending an arm and a leg on an awesome costume, I’ll be spending some quality time in the bathroom making my face paint rock! And what’s better than spending less than $5 on makeup? Nothing. Nothing is better!

This is such a fun look, and if you’re wanting something a little unique, this one is right up your alley. I love it because it looks difficult, like it took forever and like you needed all these crazy skills, but that’s just not the case. This Zebra Makeup tutorial is a winner, my friends!! Let me take you through my review and the tutorial of the Animal Instincts Makeup Kit from Walmart.

So I couldn't find this kit online, but you should be able to pick it up at any Walmart. With that said, I'm not sure I would use this kit again. I'll explain why when we get into the tutorial.

I would, however, pick up this stencil from Amazon. It's a 4x6 plastic stencil, so you can lift and apply the stripes how you'd like. I prefer the design on this one, and I like that the stripes taper off. This would be a great buy.

You're going to take a white crayon, or even some white cream, and cover your skin where you'd like the stripes.

Next, hold up your stencil and starting filling it in.

You can use a black paint or some really pigmented black eyeshadow. I was a little disappointed in the stencil because the markings are not the same as on the model. They are all the same length and don't taper off. I tried making it work by only filing in a couple lines and then moving the stencil, but the stencil is like a sticker, so every time I lifted it and replaced it, it would ruin the other markings.

Somewhere throughout this process, I touched up my liquid foundation and applied some blush. I would just do this at the beginning; it'll make things easier!

Now you're going to take the white shimmer and apply it to your lids. I have my regular makeup on and don't think it's necessary to take it off. Just cover up what you're already wearing.

I added blue because ... well, it came in the kit!

  • Step 8 10 of 15

Next, I took the black and made a slight smoky eye by filling in my crease.

Next, take some bright red lipstick and fill in your lips. Line your eyes and add the the false lashes. Make sure you've filled in your eyebrows!
