I’ve seen the future of food and it’s in a strip mall on Camelback Rd. in Phoenix. It’s True Food Kitchen and it’s a joint venture between Andrew Weill and Fox Restaurant Concepts. The reason why I know it’s going to be something great? Before I even had a bite of the food I declared that I loved it. The space inside is light, airy and filled with the smells of citrus fruit and herbs (all of which go into the fresh juices and beyond) that somehow erases the last 48 hours or huevos chorizos and pizza. The menu was filled with dishes that featured whole grains, organic fruits and vegetables, omega-3 rich fish, as well as kid-friendly fare…I could’ve eaten everything on the menu. Everything. What I finally settled on was a New Dew juice (honeydew, mint, lime) and greens with tuna sashimi, avocado, and edamame. With a side of black rice. The kids got shrimp dumplings and pizza. The whole family left asking the same question: Why isn’t there a restaurant like this in every city in America?
