Our farmer’s markets here in Florida are overflowing with ripe, juicy citrus of all types this time of year. Many people also have citrus trees in their backyards with limbs hanging heavy with ripe oranges, grapefruits and tangerines. My husband literally comes home with fresh fruit someone gave him from their backyard citrus tree nearly everyday.
Because citrus has such a great price, I have been incorporating it in just about everything we eat lately, and today I found out I am possibly reducing my stroke risk by enjoying all this cheap citrus too! New studies show that citrus fruits contain a compound that may reduce the risk of stroke in women, according to Stroke: Journal of the American Heart Association. Read more about the study here.
