The other day I read this cute post on Cup of Jo about donut cakes. Since my husband is celebrating his birthday this week I thought we might get in on the action and make one. It is the perfect thing to do with little kids since all they have to do is stack the donuts and pop in the candles. My daughter and I opted for a selection of donuts to make our cake colorful and festive. I also think monochrome like all sugar donuts or all powdered donuts would look really cool too!
How to Make a Donut Cake
10 (at least) donuts of your choosing
Cake Stand or Platter
To assemble your donut cake: Arrange your donuts in a pyramid with four donuts on the bottom, then three donuts on top of that, two donuts on top, and one donut at the very top. We opted for one single candle, but several candles stuck all around would look really cute too!
*If you want to give your donut cake a super pretty look shower the whole thing with a dusting of powdered sugar and a few colorful sprinkles!
