A Last Minute Gift — And its a Good One!

This is a gift that lasts and lasts and lasts…

‘Tis the season for gift lists…The Family Kitchen has an amazing wish list for those of you who have very good friends

And we, Laurie & Kirstin, have a green gift wish list on our Family Dinner site that will make you feel good to give.

But I would like to make one last suggestion. Especially as time is running out to buy those presents. This is a gift to give to your very favorite cooks (or to request for yourself)! It is a gift that lasts forever, never shatters, dulls or loses an important bit. Children will inherit it with warm memories of favorite family dinners.

It’s a fantastic kitchen tool, yet it won’t end up in a drawer with the egg separator, mushroom brush and the little plastic thing you can’t remember what is, but it must be important, so you keep it for years and years… It will be used often, going from the stove to the oven to the table with humble, yet solid grace.

And that is because this kitchen item works! It works hard and well with heft, slip and fair distribution. In these days where Teflon and its worrying fumes are looming, we can look back to the past for this beautiful replacement.

And at $20, it is affordable too! (See?!? A very good gift.)

Of course I am talking about the regular ‘ol cast iron skillet. And every time the flame is turned up, the skillet put down, and the happy song of the sizzle is sung, your name my dear, will have sprung to mind.

There are many options, but this Lodge Logic Pre-seasoned Skillet is one of our favorites.

From our kitchen to yours, Happy Holidays!
