A Steak for Dad: Grilling Tips and 25% Off

Father’s Day is coming, and grilling season is already here, so I thought it’d be a good time to discuss how to grill that perfect steak. Now, in all reality, I’ve seen so many people talk about grilling the perfect steak, and not everyone seems to agree on how it’s done. This is because for most people, the “perfect” steak is different for everyone. I might like my steak medium rare, while you prefer yours on the well done side of medium.

To each their own, however, there are a few basic grilling techniques that will help you get close to your version of that perfect grilling beauty.

1. Start with a hot grill. You can’t just turn the grill on and toss the steak on. A grill is like an oven, and you need to preheat first.
2. Take your steak out of the refrigerator a while before you’re going to grill it. Letting your steak warm up some will make for even grilling. If the interior of your steak is cold, for example, it will take longer to reach the right temperature and lead to a tougher exterior.
3. Keep the lid closed. This allows heat to build up all around the meat, and again, it results in a shorter cooking time.

Make this Father’s Day special by celebrating with New York Prime Meats. This Long Island butcher shop has been open since 1961, “We sell only USDA Prime cuts and are very particular about the farms we source meat from, visiting each in person to ensure humane handling of the cattle. We also ship all of our cuts fresh instead of frozen – it just tastes better!”
