Academy Awards 2011: A Simple Last-Minute Appetizer for Your Party

bacon wrapped datesNeed a last-minute snack for your 2011 Academy Awards party that’s sure to impress? You simply cannot go wrong with bacon wrapped dates. Sweet, salty, satisfying and elegant, bacon wrapped dates are pretty much the tastiest appetizer ever. The best part? You can make them in about 10 minutes. The other best part? They taste amazing.

Bacon Wrapped Dates

5 strips of bacon
15 pitted dried dates

Cut the bacon strips into three pieces. Wrap a strip around each date and pierce with a toothpick or two to hold in place. Place seam side down on a broiler pan with drip pan below. Broil for 3 minutes, flip and broil for another three. Cool for a few minutes, and then remove toothpicks. These taste especially great just out of the oven, but will hold up nicely for a few hours.
