Your kids will love to dip and munch this yummy french toast treat. And these tasty little “fries” are a cinch to make–even on a Friday morning.
French Toast “French Fries”
5 slices whole-grain sandwich bread sliced into 3/4″ thick strips
1/4 cup milk
4 tablespoons honey
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
big pinch salt
2-3 tablespoons neutral cooking oil
2 tablespoons raspberry preserves for serving
Cut the bread into strips. In a small bowl combine beat the eggs, milk, honey, vanilla, and salt.
Heat a skillet over medium heat, and then add 1 tablespoon oil. Dip 2 to 3 strips in the batter at a time, just for 5 or 10 seconds, and place them in the pan. Fry each side for 2 minutes, and flip. Remove cooked pieces to a plate covered with a paper towel.
Serve with a small bowl of raspberry or strawberry preserves.
