This April Fool’s Day prank your kids by serving french fries for breakfast! Of course these aren’t your average french fries, they’re french toast french fries with raspberry jam ketchup. Your kids will love to dip and munch this yummy french toast treat. And these tasty little “fries” are a cinch to make–even on a Friday morning.
French Toast “French Fries”
5 slices whole-grain sandwich bread sliced into 3/4” thick strips
1/4 cup milk
4 tablespoons honey
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
big pinch salt
2-3 tablespoons neutral cooking oil
2 tablespoons raspberry preserves for serving
Cut the bread into strips. In a small bowl combine beat the eggs, milk, honey, vanilla, and salt.
Heat a skillet over medium heat, and then add 1 tablespoon oil. Dip 2 to 3 strips in the batter at a time, just for 5 or 10 seconds, and place them in the pan. Fry each side for 2 minutes, and flip. Remove cooked pieces to a plate covered with a paper towel.
Serve with a small bowl of raspberry or strawberry preserves.
