One of the many things we at The Family Kitchen hope to do is inspire fun with healthy home cooking. But even we have the occasional craving for store-bought “classics.” Nutella? I can’t get enough of the stuff. A seasonal Starbucks latte? Who can resist?! Ho ho’s or Pop-Tarts? Admit it: as much as you’ll refuse to buy them (right?), sometimes they make you say, “Mmm!”
In true Family Kitchen style, we hit our kitchens many times over in 2010 to work on homemade versions of our favorite store-bought treats. And guess what? We did damn good. These copycat recipes, with spot-on flavor and all natural ingredients, are even tastier than the real things.
Here’s to hoping that these recipes will inspire you to hit your kitchen instead of the fast-food joint, cookie aisle or fancy coffee shop in 2011. Or, even better, that you (and your kiddos, too!) will have some fun making a homemade version of your store-bought craving.
