Breakfast with the Cartoon Characters from the '70s, '80s and '90s

We have the same routine every weekday morning since school started: Mom makes breakfast while the kids are watching the cartoons. The cartoon characters I grew up with in the ’70s, ’80s and ’90s including: Smurfs, Hong Kong Phooey, Pink Panther, Looney Tunes, Jabber Jaws, Rainbow Bright, Strawberry Shortcake and Valley of the Dinosaurs.

With the current Facebook and internet obsession with the retro cartoon characters I grew up with, I thought I would share some of the breakfasts I made each morning while the kids are watching 30 minutes of cartoons…

Yes, some mornings I get lazy and grab a box of Kashi, but I usually mix things up with butternut squash pancakes, simple egg dishes or oatmeal.  However, sometimes, I refer to my old stand-bys:

Strawberry Agave Nectar Breakfast on the Run

Egg White, Spinach & Feta Wrap

Breakfast Pizza Burrito

Pancakes with Buttermilk Syrup

Or my most recent favorite, the Banana Pineapple Oatmeal Breakfast Cake
