Boston baked beans have molasses and bacon and have been a local specialty since colonial times. Brooklyn baked beans have molasses, maple syrup, and lamb bacon and date back to two weeks ago when we invented them. Elizabeth’s baked beans have always been tops, but it’s the lamb bacon that pushes them into the realm of the insane.
Don’t have lamb bacon at your butcher? Well there’s recipes for making your own on the internet, but that may be a little time consuming. You might try lamb stew meat or you could just go with regular old bacon. But then you’re back in the realm of Boston baked beans.
