Buddha Pesto

Every Saturday at my farmer’s market I would see my friends lining up at the new Buddha Pesto stand. And every Saturday I’d think the same thing when I saw them. SUCKERS! Why are they dropping eight bucks on something that can so easily be whirled away in a blender and during August, no less, when our backyard basil plants are absolutely exploding? Well turns out the joke is on me. I had a taste of it at one of those friends’ houses. She spread it on crostini for me and I was in heaven…or, I guess nirvana. Yes, it’s a little pricey, but as far as packaged pesto comes, I’ve never tasted anything as close to homemade as this one. You can order online and while you’re there…beg them to distribute to your local grocer for those months when the backyard isn’t bursting.
