Vanilla Frosting

Ingredients:

  • 1 cup (2 sticks) unsalted butter, softened
  • 2 tablespoons vanilla extract
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 2 16-ounce boxes confectioners sugar
  • pinch of salt

Method:

In a bowl, beat butter until fluffy. Beat in vanilla and milk. Gradually add in sugar until you reach desired consistency.

You can make this up to one week before you use it. Cover and refrigerate and, on the day you use it, bring to room temp and rebeat for smooth consistency. Makes enough for 2 9-inch cakes or 1 sheet cake.

Hi! I’m trying to find a way to make a cream soda-flavored icing, and haven’t been able to find exactly what I’m looking for. Do you think this recipe could be somehow adapted to match that flavor? I was thinking something along the lines of replacing some/all of the milk and/or extracts with a flattened out cream soda, but I’m worried that it’ll mess with the texture too much.
