julievr JulieVR |

Looking for something delicious to bake for the ones you love this Valentine’s Day? Chocolate crackle cookies are easy to make and pretty to look at – the dark chocolate dough is rolled in powdered sugar before baking, resulting in a crackled top. Kids will love getting in on the rolling action, so that they can spread a little love too!

Chocolate Crackle Cookies

adapted from AllRecipes

Ingredients:
1/2 cup butter, at room temperature
1 1/4 cups packed light brown sugar
2 large eggs, lightly beaten
1 teaspoon vanilla
2 cups all-purpose flour
1/2 cup cocoa
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/4 teaspoon baking soda
1/2 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips
1/3 cup sugar
1/2 cup powdered sugar

Directions:

In a large bowl, beat butter and brown sugar until well blended. Add eggs and vanilla; beat well.

Combine flour, cocoa, salt and baking soda. Add to the butter mixture and stir by hand or beat at low speed just until blended. Stir in chocolate chips. Cover and chill 3 hours.

Preheat the oven to 350F. Shape dough into 1-inch balls. Roll in powdered sugar to coat and place an inch or so apart on a parchment-lined cookie sheet.

Bake for 10-12 minutes, or until cookies are just set but still soft in the middle. (They will firm up as they cool.) Transfer to a wire rack to cool completely. Makes 1 1/2-2 dozen cookies.
