Chocolate Sandwiches: A Decadent but Easy Breakfast for Special OccasionsElizabeth Stark
Back when we used to be the kind of people who could go out to brunch regularly (that is to say, childless people), one of our favorite places had a chocolate sandwich on the menu. I would never order it because when I pay for a meal, I like it to be something that either requires too much skill or too much hassle to do at home. But it did always sound really good to me and I meant to make my own. This weekend we finally got around to it and it was incredible.
There’s really not much to it. Take a croissant, cut it in half, toast it, and put some chocolate on it. The end result is essentially like a pain au chocolat, but with the advantage that you can choose what kind of chocolate you use, so you can use the really good stuff. We happen to live in a neighborhood with one on the best chocolate makers in America, Mast Brothers. But any kind of high quality chocolate will help take this simple dish to the next level. Make your next weekend breakfast special without making it a hassle.
