Sometime around mid-January, I start to get a hankering for summertime. I miss the warm, lazy days. I miss the hot sun. I miss the carnivals. Yes, you heard me. I love all those summer carnivals and festivals and State Fairs. I love the big, hot pretzels. The fresh-squeezed lemonade. And I really, really get a hankering for churros. Those giant sticks of cinnamon-sugar perfection are totally crave-worthy. Good news! Now you don’t have to wait for a summertime carnival to come into town. You can whip up a batch of this super simple churro popcorn and munch the night away with reckless abandon.
- 6 cups popped popcorn
- 1/2 cup cinnamon chips, melted (available online or in the chocolate chip section of most major grocery stores)
- 2 tablespoons powdered sugar
- 2 tablespoons granulated sugar
- 1 teaspoon cinnamon
In a small bowl, drizzle the cinnamon chips over the popcorn, toss to coat. In a small bowl, sprinkle together the powdered sugar, granulated sugar, and cinnamon. Sprinkle over the popcorn. Toss to coat again. Allow to cool completely before serving.
