Go ahead… it’s okay to stare. I sure did when I first saw this photo of the simple yet brilliant recipe by Alice Currah of Savory Sweet Life. Just like Alice, I am a child of the 80’s and Twix was my “go to” chocolate fix. But this? This recipe takes that simple chocolate crunchy caramel bar to another level. It’s Twix… for adults.
Alice uses salted honey-wheat pretzel sticks, Kraft caramel squares, Nutella and dark chocolate chips in her creation. It’s a surprisingly simple recipe with a finished product that is much more uniform then many homemade attempts at classic candy bars. She doesn’t ask you to make your own caramel, bake pretzels or travel to France to harvest the sea salt. A few store-bought ingredients and you’re on your way to Twix heaven.
The recipe on Alice’s site features wonderful step-by-step photos and tips to make these sinful treats. Once you make this homemade version, those grocery store Twix bars just won’t cut it.
