Daytona 500 Start Time: Foods to Eat While WatchingAngie McGowan
The Daytona 500 Start time is today at 1pm EST. Coverage already started at noon. The green flag is set to waive at 1:19 EST on channel FOX. The Daytona 500 is one of the biggest sport events in the nation, and is without a doubt the single biggest event for us here in central Florida. We’ve been meaning to go to the race every year since we’ve lived here, but another year has passed and we still haven’t made it. After 10 years of only living a few miles away from Daytona, I can’t believe we still haven’t been to the big race. Since this is our last year living in central Florida, we will be attending the Daytona 500 next year in 2012. It’s a huge event with lots of tailgating. People enjoy lots of grilled food like hamburgers, hot dogs and ribs. Since we’re not at the race today, we’ll be grilling out. I went to the store and picked up some bratwurst. I’ll be making bear grilled beer bratwurst with grilled onions and peppers. I’m also planning potato salad, baked beans with crispy oven fries.
Here are a few more of my favorite race day foods on the Family Kitchen.
