My husband and I eloped to Amsterdam on a whim. We were planning the trip anyway and decided to get married. So we signed our papers in quiet and ran off to the Netherlands, where we rented a flat in the oldest part of the city. His brother visited us from Italy and was the first to learn that we married. That night my brother-in-law fixed us a meal to congratulate us: vegetable risotto with some wine and dark chocolate truffles he bought. It was a simple dinner but beautifully romantic and intimate.
