Our top 100 mom food bloggers can take care of the kids, work a 9-5 job, and whip up a mean souffl'. They are masters of the kitchen and the household, creators of cookies, packers of lunches, fixers of food fails. And perhaps best of all: They share their secrets with us each day on their blogs!
Babble recently asked the top 100 to create some custom recipes for us. Now we've asked them to share a few more "secrets" - recipes and cooking tips - and we'll be running a new set of responses from them each month.
For July, we asked each blogger to share a recipe every mom (or dad!) should know how to make. Consider this your Kitchen Bible - and check back next month, when the top 100 share their best 100 recipes under 100 calories!
What's a recipe every mom should know how to make?
Every mom should be able to mix up a batch of biscuits – from scratch! They can be pulled into service for everything from breakfast to dinner to afternoon snack. They can be customized with orange or lemon zest, berries, chocolate, raisins, or cheese. You can serve them plain; with butter and jam; split and topped with strawberries and cream; or alongside chili, soups, and stews. Tiny biscuits are perfect when you need to bring a snack for a group of kids or need a nibble for a party. Cut the dough with shot glasses and make mini ham and cheese sandwiches or spread them with cream cheese and jam. They’re indispensable for a tea party. And there is no better comfort food than a batch of warm biscuits, straight from the oven! Not only are they delicious, they make your house smell divine.
