Food Blogger Bites
Our top 100 mom food bloggers can take care of the kids, work a 9-5 job, and whip up a mean souffl'. They are masters of the kitchen and the household, creators of cookies, packers of lunches, fixers of food fails. And perhaps best of all: They share their secrets with us each day on their blogs!
Babble recently asked the top 100 to create some custom recipes for us. Now we've asked them to share a few more "secrets" - recipes and cooking tips - and we'll be running a new set of responses from them each month.
For July, we asked each blogger to share a recipe every mom (or dad!) should know how to make. Consider this your Kitchen Bible - and check back next month, when the top 100 share their best 100 recipes under 100 calories!
What's a recipe every mom should know how to make?
Dairy- and Egg-Free Pancakes
Every mom must know how to make a really great pancake from scratch. Make-your-own pancakes are nearly as easy to make as the ones from a cardboard box – but much healthier. I make a big batch of them early in the week and freeze for busy mornings when kids want something a little more substantial than cold cereal. My version is dairy- and egg-free, so you can easily make a batch from ingredients you already have on hand in your pantry. Pancakes can be dressed up with mini chocolate chips or berries, or served plain and simple with a touch of fruit or maple syrup.
