Top 100 Food Mom Blogs, 2011
Some of our favorite things here at Babble are family food blogs and the moms who write them. From their real-life tips for feeding picky eaters to their 30-minute recipes and overall inspiring approaches, these women give us the tools we need to put dinner (and dessert, lunch, breakfast, snacks:) on the table. So for Babble's second annual Top Food Mom Blogs, we decided to go from 50 to 100 winners. Our food-loving panel made their picks, but we want your feedback, too, so nominate your favorite food mama here.
Check back to see your nominations on our 2012 list next year and, in the meantime, read, write, and link up. Bon App'tit! - The Babble Editors

Feeding Maybelle

Who: Maybelle’s mom, mother of two, Cleveland, Ohio
Why we love her: There’s a little story behind each recipe at Feeding Maybelle, a simple but lovely blog with recipes for the vegan, vegetarian, and gluten-free crowds. Whether you read about how her daughter’s love of chocolate spawned a birthday cake of sinful, chocolatey proportions (where’s ours?), or how her and her husband’s hatred of “food porn” inspired sweet potato waffles that were as irresistible as they were imperfect, Maybelle’s mom will hook you on why she’s cooking just as much as what she’s cooking. And believe us, what she’s cooking – Tibetan rice pudding, anyone? – is already enough to pique your interest.

This is a great list! It’s nice to see some of my favorite blogs on here — how exciting!
Interesting that you recommend food blogs to your readers. Because if any of the blogs on your list make an item found on Babble.com you threaten legal action against them, which is completely unfounded. I hope none of these bloggers think it is anything special to be recommended by Babble – which is a site that I will never use again for recipes or information.
@Food blogger, thank you for comment. Just to clarify, we never have an issue with someone making one of our recipes — that’s why we’re here! We want you to enjoy food as much as we do. However, we do not permit sites to publish recipes from Babble without permission or proper credit.
Could you clarify how the points were awarded for the different “Top 100″?
@Dara – I completely agree that proper citation and attribution is necessary when blogging. It is not normal practice to ask permission to make and blog recipes found online. I would be very interested to see your response if one of these top 100 were to *gasp* make a recipe found on your site without asking first – good luck suing them for that.
@Mark Powell — the points were awarded based on the strength of the votes of each of the panelists.
It’s always the same people. Sort of the rich get rich and the poor get poorer. Wonder what it would take to see some of the blogs that have unique great content that don’t spend their days begging for votes or have a million users who will keep the in their place of distinction?
Oh I wish I knew about this sooner…. How wonderful to have so many moms caring about the food their kids eat!

This is great! My favorite food mom blogs are http://www.pioneerwoman.com and http://www.mykitchenchaos.com. Fun, funny and great recipes!
Thanks for the list! Some old favorites, and new faces. I have a lot of reading (and cooking) to do.
Smitten Kitchen is considered food photography at it’s finest?! All I see is the same laminated grey speckled countertop, poor lighting and almost no food styling whatsoever in every single photo.
Very excited to see this list but the recipes are not interesting at all. Why isn’t skinnytaste on here?
What kind of recipes would you consider interesting and exciting?
Not being a hater, I’m happy for those who are at the top, but I agree, Not sure how some of these got to be the ‘best’. I think maybe some bloggers comment on ‘popular’ blogs for advertising. It would be nice to see some new worthy blogs at the top of lists. I like to start at the bottom of the list for this reason.
Some wonderful bloggers on this list; bloggers I’ve been reading for years.

Thank you for this wonderful list! Many of my favorites and a few new ones to check out. I just wanted to share my blog, I am a professional chef, food activist and a mother. I blog in my “spare time” so it’s not full of advertising, or a full time job, just the things I am deeply passionate about, food, community, justice and family. I’d love if you checked it out and spread the word if you like what you see. Thanks again! Tagan, taganskitchen.blogspot.com
