Who: Shauna Ahern, mom of one, Seattle, WA

Why we love her: What’s not to love about Shauna? From the food she makes to the sweet natured attitude about how and why she makes it, every recipe and photograph sucks you in with her warm embrace. Her healthy recipes use the freshest ingredients with tons of flavors to boot. After feeling “lousy, and low in energy, sick and sometimes depressed,” she realized that she had celiac disease and was determined to find a way to better her health. As a passionate writer, photographer, mother, wife and cook, she creates recipes that are so mouthwateringly delicious, you’ll never know you’re eating something gluten-free!

  1. Reading Shauna blogs and cook books (which read more like letters from home) inspired me to get back into the kitchen and cook! I have always been a good cook – my family says I am great, but they are a little biased – but lost my way when I was told I could no longer eat gluten containing foods. Gluten is in almost every commercially prepared food there is. We are now eating healthier and happier thanks to Shauna’s inspiration. And I am having fun in the kitchen again.

  2. Shauna has a very special ability to connect with people through her recipes and writing. The recipes are well thought out and very tasty. She is a breath of fresh air for those who can’t have gluten and gives hope that we can still have wonderful food without gluten. I’m so fortunate that I found her blog early on in my journey. She is definitely an inspiration to me. So many of the first few prepared gluten products that I bought were, to put it mildly, gross. I love to cook and bake and with Shauna’s help I am able to make food that people can’t even tell is gluten free and it tastes wonderful!
