Dirty Little Top Secret Coffee Cake Recipe

Do you have a secret recipe? And I don’t mean “a little vague.” I’m talking a recipe so secret you won’t even tell your granddaughter, much less your daughter-in-law. I’m talking top secret.

I put all my favorite recipes online and make how-to videos for most, so I obviously don’t have top secret recipes. An ingredient list and method never ensures the same great end result that makes a top secret recipe so sought after in the first place. Just as you can lead a horse to water and not make him drink; you can offer up a recipe but make no promise of a successful outcome.

This Top Secret Coffee Cake Recipe is courtesy of my mother-in-law, Maria. Which didn’t come my way easily at all. After numerous requests from her granddaughter, Maria finally caved. My begging and pleading soon worked as well.

The funny part is, this Top Secret Coffee Cake has actually been in the Los Angeles Times Recipe Database for almost 25 years. As with all great recipes, some modifications have been made, but in truth, it’s the Cafe Beaujolais’ Buttermilk-Cinnamon Coffeecake.

So… I hope you’ll give this Top Secret Coffee Cake Recipe a try, whether you can keep it a secret or not.

Watch Top Secret Coffee Cake and tell me, do you have a top secret recipe and why do you keep it a secret?
