Yes, there is yet another study that tells us that consuming less fat will make us healthier and live longer. This one was a Swedish study published in the American Heart Association’s journal Stroke. The study found that people who consumed low-fat, instead of full-fat, dairy products were less likely to suffer a stroke. Researchers found a 12 percent lower risk of stroke and a 13 percent lower risk of ischemic stroke for people who stuck to only low-fat dairy items. Researchers believe that not only the lower amount of fat in these items contributed to better heath, but also the vitamins and minerals they contain, especially Vitamin D, which can potentially reduce blood pressure.
Since my husband comes home with horrifying stories everyday of younger women in the 40′s and 50′s that suffered major strokes, I think I’ll strictly stick to my low-fat dairy products.
