WHO wants one? Sorry I couldn’t resist. Owls are popping up everywhere lately from fashion to food. And why not, they’re as cute as can be. These owl cupcakes besides being cute are as easy as pie to pull together. The kids could even decorate these themselves. I will warn you, get an extra bag of Oreos because somehow when you’re disassembling them they seem to magically disappear! And if you need ideas for the extra Oreos check out 7 THINGS TO DO WITH A BAG OF OREOS!
Oreo Owl Cupcakes
What you’ll need:
1 – 18.25 ounce box Devil’s Food Cake Mix + ingredients to make
1 – 16 once tub chocolate frosting
Oreo cookies (2 cookies per cupcake)
brown m&m’s (2 per cupcake)
orange m&m’s (1 per cupcake)
What to do:
1. Bake cupcakes according to package directions. Note: You do not want oversize cupcakes or the Oreos will not lay flat so do not overfill muffin cups. Allow to cool.
2. Frost cupcakes. Gently sweep up two “ears” using your icing spatula.
3. Carefully twist Oreos so that filling is intact. Save the side without filling for snacking or alternate use. Place 2 Oreo halves with filling onto cupcake for “eyes”. Top with 2 chocolate m&m’s for the “eyes”. Place an orange m&m vertically for the “nose”. Continue until all are complete.
