For the first time in weeks, things are chilly here in NYC — not anything crazy, but just enough for rosy cheeks and invigoratingly crisp air. It’s a great time to slow-cook some meat and make incredibly satisfying sandwiches. One of our favorite winter sandwiches is the fancy joe. It’s a lot like a sloppy joe, but without the unfortunate name. Don’t get me wrong, these are a bit messy, but, made with hunks of impossibly tender meat, tomatoes, and spicy Hungarian paprika, these fancy joes have a sophisticated edge that the whole family will love.
