Fat Tuesday 2011 Mardi Gras Recipes to Turn up the HeatAngie McGowan
Today is Fat Tuesday 2011, the day to indulge in all our favorite foods before giving them up for lent. Ash Wednesday 2011 is tomorrow, and the first day of lent. What foods will you be giving up? I’m giving up sweets during lent, and my husband is giving it all up. Lent this year is 46 days, and he’s fasting for 40 of the 46 days, on a liquid diet, then slowly starting to incorporate fruits and veggies the last six days before eating regularly again on Easter Sunday. I would not recommend that type of fasting for anyone though, it seems a little hardcore to me, but to each their own.
For today I am making some of our favorite foods. I’ll be making a shrimp etoufee and a strawberry pie for dessert. We have strawberry banana bread and fresh strawberries to snack on today, and we’ll be having leftover tomato pie for lunch. I can’t wait to pig out on all my favorite foods today!
