Fine Dining for Four-Legged Friends at the Fairmont

When pets are a part of the family, you want to feed them well. An increased desire to give our pups the very best has led to a surge in new dog bakeries, caterers and other gourmet services, but not only can they eat well at home, they can live like kings on the road. Those who travel with their pets are happy to be welcomed at luxury hotels like The Fairmont Hotel Vancouver, where they welcome four-legged family members, offering them the same comforts as their owners.

The hotel has always been pet-friendly, but they’re taking it to the next level this fall by encouraging guests to bring Fido along for free. It’s all woofs and wags with special welcome treats and toys, a pets-only in-room dining menu and of course, a welcome from the hotel’s friendly Canine Ambassadors, Mavis and Beau. If you’re traveling without your dog, Fairmont hotels have Canine Ambassadors worldwide: guests missing their own furry friend or looking for a companion while taking a walk can bring along the resident Fairmont dog, for companionship, extra security and the comfort of home.

After several tastings, the two gourmet hounds selected mouthwatering treats such as Organic Venison and Cranberry Pepperoni (made with organic venison and juicy cranberries), Organic Beef Granola Bars (protein-rich snacks made with certified organic extra lean beef, whole oats, eggs, fresh veggies and apples) and Turkey & Spinach “Paw-Stickers” (made with all-natural ingredients like hormone-free turkey breast and fresh spinach). The hotel didn’t forget feline friends with offerings such as Succulent Salmon Stew for Cats (a hearty stew made with salmon and veggies like zucchini, pumpkin and carrots) and Wild Salmon Jerky (a high protein snack chock full of omega-3′s and local BC flavour).

Now that’s room service.

*The Fairmont Hotel Vancouver’s “Pets Stay Free” promotion will run throughout September and October and means the $30 pet fee is waived. All pets will receive the hotel’s usual pet amenities: welcome mat in the room, pet dish, welcome treats and toy, plus an information sheet on local pet activities and hot spots.
