On Tuesday I had something called a Chocolate Bundle for breakfast. Yes, it was as amazing as it sounds. My daughter immensely enjoyed her morning pastry as well, a mixed berry tart piled high with strawberries, blueberries and blackberries. Had I been slaving away since 5am rolling out pastry dough from scratch, you ask? Heck no. I was at the SoNo Baking Company & Cafe enjoying tea and a mid-morning snack before a playdate at the Children’s Museum.
I’m a huge fan of The SoNo Baking Company Cookbook which was written by the bakery’s owner, John Barricelli. So, when we moved to a town just a few miles away from the actual shop, I couldn’t wait to check it out in person.
I am always up for a fun food adventure and this was the perfect way to celebrate the awesome food talent in our new home state. My daughter and I had a wonderful time watching the bakers at work through the windows into the gigantic kitchen. Just look at those awesome bread bowls!
I mean seriously, don’t these cookies look incredible?!
And the racks of freshly baked bread?! Yum! Needless to say, we have had fresh bread, garlic bread and homemade croutons at dinner this week.
I even snagged a copy of the cafe menu and plan to try out their egg sandwich the next time we go. In the mean time, I am going to keep leafing through their cookbook, I just spotted the recipe for Chocolate Bundle. I wonder if I can make it tomorrow during my daughter’s naptime.
