TED (Technology, Entertainment, Design), a nonprofit devoted to spreading ideas through conferences and talks by remarkable people, have made them available free to the world in all possible mediums. Everyone should know about TED talks, and browse through their website or app. The organization is best summed up in its mandate:
We believe passionately in the power of ideas to change attitudes, lives and ultimately, the world. So we’re building here a clearinghouse that offers free knowledge and inspiration from the world’s most inspired thinkers, and also a community of curious souls to engage with ideas and each other.
TED talk topics address every conceivable subject, so it stands to reason there are hundreds of great discussions on the subject of food – sustainability, security, the nature of food habits and state of our food system. Jamie Oliver’s 2010 TED talk brought the series more mainstream; here are his and other food-related TED talks, from the minds of Malcom Gladwell, Mark Bittman, and other great thinkers, doers and eaters. If you eat, these are worth watching.
