Fresh Blackberry Limeade: A Delicious, Kid-Friendly Sip

Blackberry Limeade: A Fresh, Kid-Friendly Sip, via Babble.com
The long weekend is nearly upon us, and a heat wave is on the way. We’re getting ready for summer’s last gasp with beach plans, plenty of grillables, and lots of fresh end-of-summer sips. One of my new favorites is this vivid purple blackberry limeade. It’s tangy and sweet, with a hint of bitterness from the fresh lime. Sophisticated, fresh, and so kid-friendly, this limeade is just the thing to end your little ones’ summer with a bang.

Fresh Blackberry Limeade
serves 4

3 cups blackberries (for just over 3/4 cup blackberry puree)
1/2 – 2/3 cup sugar
juice of 6 – 7 large limes, or just over 3/4 cup
1 cup water
whole blackberries and lime wedges for garnish

Decide how much sugar you’ll need — cut back for sweet berries and add more for tart ones. Using a masher or fork, smash the blackberries and sugar together. Set aside while you juice the limes.

Juice the limes. Add the lime juice and water to the blackberry mixture and stir vigorously.

Serve over plenty of ice with a sliced lime and blackberry garnish
