Are you feeling a little bloated after all those Christmas cookies you ate over the past few days? I know I am. I feel like a need a major diet detox. For a start, I’m going back to only having fresh fruit fruit smoothies for breakfast, and lots of healthy salads and soups for lunch and dinner. And I am staying away from the sweet treats at least for a few weeks. My body is on sugar overload.
This healthy blueberry smoothie is a great way to start the day. Blueberries are very nutritious, packed with a ton of vitamins and minerals. And while blueberries may not be in season here, they are in season in Chile. Chilean blueberries make it possible for us to enjoy delicious blueberries in all winter long.

Fresh Blueberry Green Tea Smoothie Recipe
1 cup plain yogurt
3/4 cup fresh Chilean blueberries
Zest of orange
4 ice cubes
1 cup Blueberry Green Tea Fusion (recipe follows)
Blend well and top with mint sprig.
Blueberry Green Tea Fusion Recipe
2 cups water
1 cup fresh Chilean blueberries
2 green tea bags
Bring 2 cups water to boil. Add 1 cup fresh Chilean blueberries. Boil 5 minutes. Strain. Add 2 green tea bags and steep 3-5 minutes. Drink hot or pour over ice and add honey or agave to sweeten.
Nutrients per serving: 80 calories, 2 gms dietary fiber, 42 mg sodium and 4 gms protein
