Soon my children will be gone all day, and instead of hearing their voices squealing and screaming all day long, I will enjoy silence until they return, bursting through the door. Hungry. Always hungry. I do have to wonder if they ever eat the food I lovingly pack for them in their school lunches, but it would appear they do. School just works up an appetite.
Which brings us to after-school snacks. Here are a few of our favorites to get your school year started off on the right foot.
- Yogurt and granola with fresh fruit.
- Frozen Yogurt Pops – Just stick a spoon or a popsicle stick through the foil liner and freeze, then unmold as you would a homemade popsicle.
- Yogurt smoothies – frozen berries, a banana, a bit of milk and yogurt blend together for a cold, creamy treat.
- Frozen yogurt drops – like fruit snacks, just with yogurt. (Try this technique with strawberries, too!)
- Pretzels with yogurt
