Giant Firework Shortbread Cookies

Firework Cookies

I recently saw a variation of these fun cookies in Martha Stewart. I loved the way the red gel was used to create a firework look. They are perfect for the Fourth! To make my own variation I decided to use my favorite shortbread heart recipe and make big red fireworks. I choose to make them extra big, like frisbee side since I was just in the mood to do so. We ended up cutting the cookies into slices and serving them like pizza. Any color frosting or gel would work well with these cookies. Make them your own and have fun!

Giant Firework Shortbread Cookies

1 batch homemade shortbread cookies

1 batch buttercream frosting

Red decorating gel

1. Once the cookies have cooled frost them completely with the icing. Draw circles on the top of the frosting with the red gel. Gently drag a toothpick through the gel to make it look like a bursting firework!
