In my world, pumpkin and gingerbread are the flavors that bring the holidays together. They are most enjoyed during the months of November and December when people are most likely to indulge in all foods season inspired. These little empanadas / hand-pie gems are a standing favorite in my household. My Grandfather’s Mother use to whip them up back in Mexico as one of the prized treats for her family in the early 1920’s, and I am still whipping them up for mine in the year 2012. This recipe is perfect for a delicious little nosh before or after your holiday feast. I’m so thankful to be able to share my family traditions with you, and hope they become a tradition in your kitchen too. Enjoy!
