Go Green! 15 Green Smoothie and Juice Recipes

Most of us don’t eat enough dark, leafy greens, it’s a fact. But adding more vegetables to your diet isn’t easy if you’ve lost or never had your taste for them. If that’s the case, blending fresh greens like kale or spinach into a juice or smoothie is a great way to develop your palate, so that you come to enjoy them. Of course, as many doctors will point out, juices and smoothies are no substitute for eating your greens since you lose important dietary fiber in juicing and smoothies can have high levels of (natural) sugars. But, if you’re not already eating enough vegetables, they’re a great way to get the nutrients you are missing and a good step toward developing the habits and tastes you need to eat a little better down the line. Green juices and smoothies can also provide a concentrated nutritional boost for the veggie-lovers among us.

Most of these recipes can be made in a regular blender, though a high-power one like Vitamix is preferable (especially for reducing the pulpy taste —— good for getting kids into green smoothies). For the juice recipes, you’ll need a juicer.

Ready to get started? Here are fifteen fantastic recipes for green smoothies and juices.
