Grab ‘n Go Chocolate Power Shake

Mom's Energizer Shake
Mom’s Energizer Shake

I’m going to call this Mom’s Grab ‘n Go Chocolate Power Shake – the name says it all. Frosty and creamy with an intense chocolate almond flavor that will make any busy mom feel pampered and satisfied. On those busy days when you just want to treat yourself well and slurp up some energy, this is the shake for you. No need to need your desk to enjoy this sip – drop in a straw and it’s hands-free deliciousness. And I’ve included a kid-approved version too..

Two Ways to Power-Up. This shake is bursting with nutrients like fiber, protein and vitamins. But for that extra energizing kick – there are a few options moms have. First, you can add a shot of strongly brewed coffee – or espresso. Or if you are more of a tea gal, a shot of strongly brewed chai. The other option is to make the smoothie as-is and simply add in a few dashes of spicy cayenne and cinnamon – for a spicy energizing kick.

Or if you are making this shake for kids – leave out the “power-up” option. The healthy ingredients will still fill them with some fast – and cravable – energy.

You may remember a while back I posted my recipe for a classic Almond Banana Shake. Creamy, frosty, smooth. Pure almond and banana flavor in every silky sip. Well this is really the chocolate-infused version of that recipe – and a bit thinner in texture as well.

And with both shakes – Chocolate Power-Up or Classic Almond – the secret ingredient is really those frozen bananas. They lend that ice-cream-like texture to this shake. Freezing the bananas first makes the shake thicker than using room temp bananas.

Grab ‘n go and have a healthy, happy day..
