Your busy spring deserves an energy shake that fits your super green and lively mood. How about this Green Citrus Energy Shake? This wellness blend is loaded with energizing ingredients like green tea, protein and vitamin-C infused fresh citrus. Some protein and healthy fats in there too to keep you satisfied. And the best part is that it tastes amazing! So skip your usual double grande espresso latte or giant cup of coffee and blend up some green energy in a very delicious way. The basic recipe is delicious, but to boost this shake add in:

* Maca powder – energizing properties gives a malted-like flavor
* Matcha powder – antioxidant-rich green tea powder, contains some caffeine but in a ground whole leaf form
* Protein powder – adds protein to fuel your body and help this shake have a more well-rounded nutrient profile
* Walnuts – these add healthy omega 3′s and healthy fats keep you satisfied and energized longer (plus these help to thicken the shake texture)

Green Citrus Energy Shake for Spring
vegan, serves 1-2

1 large banana, frozen
1 orange, peeled (or substitute with 1/2 cup orange juice)
3 large leaves kale or a handful of spinach
1/2 cup almond milk, vanilla
1/4 cup coconut water
1/2 cup frozen melon (try cantaloupe, honeydew or watermelon)
1/4 cup ice cubes

Boost-it – Toss in:
1 tsp matcha green tea powder
1 tsp maca powder (known for its energizing properties)
1 scoop vegan protein powder (try hemp, pea or rice based blends – vanilla flavor will even work here)
3-4 raw walnuts

Blend and serve.
