When I load up my baskets at the farmer’s market I usually have my dinner hat on — i.e. What meal can I make tonight starting wtih these big shiny eggplants. As opposed to, say, What snack can I make my children with these big shiny eggplants. But why don’t I? Last week I laid out a snack plate for my daughters 100% of it was taken right out of my market bag — including white cherries, beautiful tender freshly-picked carrots, and garden peas that they pried open with their nimble little fingers. I stirred some lemon and mint into plain yogurt for the dip.
