One of the things I love about most about eating seasonally is the fun of discovering something new or wonderful each year. Some years, the strawberries will be off-the-hook or I’ll stumble on a green I’ve never tried. This year’s surprise has been the broccoli. For whatever reason, we’ve had weeks of the really good stuff. Every week at the market I can’t help but pick up a little more. So I’ve been experimenting with a few new broccoli recipes and have really started to love raw broccoli slaw. For this recipe I paired it with caramelized grapefruit slices (I know that sounds super fancy, but they’re really simple to make!). I love the interplay of sweet and savory, and how the tender spring broccoli takes on the slightly bitter and sweet flavors of grapefruit.
